Complete heart block complicating bacterial endocarditis.

چکیده
cases of CHB. In these cases, a common finding, in addition to involvement of the aortic valve, was extension of the infection to adjacent structures resulting in cardioaortic fistulae. CHB likely resulted from extension of infection to the major conduction tissues. Five of the six patients with CHB died suddenly while in the hospital. One patient was treated with electric pacing while the infection was being controlled and, 38 days later, underwent successful replacement of the aortic valve. Conduction abnormalities are important possible complications of aortic valvular BE. Prompt pacing may be a lifesaving procedure, allowing eradication of infection as a prelude to surgical therapy.

Cardiac conduction abnormalities preceding transoesophageal echocardiographic evidence of perivalvar extension of infection in a case of Salmonella prosthetic valve endocarditis.
A 59 year old African-American man developed complete heart block in association with Salmonella enteritidis prosthetic valve endocarditis. Severe cardiac conduction abnormalities signalled the presence of perivalvar extension of infection before development of evidence of abscess by transoesophageal echocardiography. Cardiac conduction temporarily returned after debridement and aortic homograf...
متن کاملMyocardial abscess with complete heart block complicating anaerobic infective endocarditis.
Myocardial abscess caused by anaerobic infection is rare and usually occurs in cases of myocardial infarction, in which it may be related to areas of low oxygen tension. Bacteroides CDC group F-1 infective endocarditis complicated by an aortic valve ring abscess with resultant complete heart block developed in a patient with steroid dependent systemic lupus erythematosus. The genitourinary syst...
متن کاملRuptured sinus of valsalva and complete atrioventricular block complicating fulminant course of infective endocarditis: a case report and literature review.
Patients with infective endocarditis usually developed persistent fever and heart failure, especially when the valve structures are invaded and destroyed. Persistent bacteremia often leads to severe sepsis or overwhelming septic shock. Septic emboli from the vegetation will possibly result in systemic thromboembolism with multiple organ infarction. Patients with infective endocarditis have been...
متن کاملPresystolic mitral closure sound in aortic regurgitation with left ventricular hypertrophy and first degree heart block.
We report a patient who developed aortic regurgitation and first degree atrioventricular block caused by infective endocarditis complicating aortic valve stenosis. There was premature closure of the mitral valve and, in the absence of an Austin Flint murmur, a simultaneous high frequency sound was audible which we regard as a presystolic first heart sound. That such a sound may be associated wi...
